Around the House Like Magic by Jean E. Laird. Published
by Harper & Row, Publishers New York, Evanston, and London.
Copyright 1967 - First Edition. Noted on page: Some of the
material in this book originally appeared in different form in the
author’s newspaper column in the Tulsa Sunday World. This is a
Yellow cloth board covered hard back book with black lettering on
the spine with dust jacket. The book has one bump on the bottom
back binder cover. The dust jacket is worn with age spots and
several tears at the top and bottom of the spine (I almost throw
the dust jacket out) otherwise the book is clean, tight, and
sturdy to the spine. Total number of pages - 223, with the last
page about the author. Book measures 5 11/16" wide and 8 1/2"
tall. Contains tips on decorating, cleaning, storing, cooking,
gardening, sewing, entertaining, health and beauty hints; How to
keep happy husbands, children and pets really something on just
about everything that goes on in and around the house. "Mrs. Laird
is an imaginative, canny, do-it-yourself expert whose hints to
homemakers have delighted magazine and newspaper readers
throughout the country. Now all of this genie's magical tips - at
least a thousand of them - are contained in one handy volume for
reference. "Contains chapters such as: Cleaning Can Be Fun -
Closets and Storage Areas - Laundry Tips - Company Coming? - Lunch
Box and Picnic Ideas - How To Raise Happy Moppets - and much much
more! Excellent addition for the new home-maker as well as the
avid collector of vintage books!
